Education Field Trip to Double Tree Resort Hilton, Penang
1 April 2024, Taiping, Perak - The students (REV, RHC & RGP) and lecturers from TAR UMT Perak Branch embarked on an educational field trip to DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang. Throughout the tour, the General Manager and all Heads of Departments offered insights into the resort's operations and delivered an engaging career talk, followed by an interactive Q&A session. Students enjoyed a guided tour and were treated to refreshments. Certificates of participation were then awarded to the students, and a photo session ensued. We extend our heartfelt thanks to DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang for their top-notch hospitality.

Navigating the Future of Education with ChatGPT
19 April 2024, Taiping, Perak - Dr. Chieng Hock Hung, Assistant Professor from the Department of Computing and Information Technology, conducted a workshop titled "Navigating the Future of Education with ChatGPT" for educators at Tenby Schools Ipoh. The workshop delved into the transformative role of artificial intelligence in education. Through interactive sessions exploring ChatGPT's capabilities, teachers gained valuable insights into innovative approaches to enhance their teaching methodologies.

Generative AI: Business Buddy or Digital Nemesis?
19 April 2024, Perak - Generative AI industrial talk “'Generative AI: Business Buddy or Digital Nemesis?” In the current era of rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), technology has permeated almost every aspect of our lives and various industries. To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the impact Generative AI will have on individuals and businesses, our university hosted an enlightening industrial talk titled "Generative AI: Business Buddy or Digital Nemesis?" The speaker for this event was Dr. Lau Cher Han, CEO of LEAD and founder of CoronaTracker.
During his talk, Dr. Lau Cher Han highlighted how AI can enhance productivity and facilitate better decision-making. He shared compelling examples of businesses that have successfully integrated AI technologies and discussed job roles that might be replaced by AI in the future. Additionally, Dr. Lau offered valuable guidance on navigating the era of Generative AI, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and continuous learning.
The Q&A session that followed was particularly engaging, with students posing questions on a variety of topics, including ethical considerations and the application of AI in startups. Dr. Lau’s responses demonstrated his deep expertise and practical experience, making the session highly informative and interactive.
As the session concluded, the university expressed its appreciation for Dr. Lau’s valuable insights by presenting him with a token of appreciation. This event not only broadened the students' understanding of Generative AI but also inspired them to think critically about the future implications of AI in business and society.

Education field trip to Prince of Songkhla University, Thailand
20 April 2024, Pattani, Thailand - Students (REV, RHC & RGP) and lecturers from TAR UMT Perak Branch embarked on an educational field trip to Pattani, Thailand. Led by Programme Leader Mr. Zazrul Afiq Zazlan, the trip offered more than just indulgence in Thailand's glorious food and culture. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the Galyani Vadhana Institute of Cultural Studies at Prince of Songkhla University, Pattani Campus. It was a wonderful experience for students to immerse themselves in Thai culture through batik workshop activities, where they learned the art of printing and painting Thailand Batik.
Additionally, the group visited the 3D Art Museum and Historical Museum, enhancing their knowledge of Pattani's history as part of the Langkasuka kingdom in the Malay Peninsula. Heartfelt thanks were extended to Dr. Pornpawee Phumkerd, Director of Prince of Songkhla University, and Dr. Nipatimah Hayeehama, Head of Research at Prince of Songkhla University, for their fantastic hospitality. Appreciation was also expressed to the lecturers for their gracious time and assistance.

Service Learning 2024
19 - 20 April 2024, Perak - Community Service Activities Organised by Year 2 Semester 2 Students. Students from the Bachelor of Business (Honours) Accounting and Finance (RAF) and Bachelor of Business (Honours) Business Administration (RBU), Year 2 Semester 2, organised a series of community service activities as part of their MPU-3202 Service-Learning coursework requirement. The primary objective of these service-learning projects was to enable students to contribute to the community by applying the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the classroom. The community projects were carried out as follows:

These activities were designed to provide practical learning experiences for the students while simultaneously benefiting various communities in Perak. Each workshop and talk was tailored to address specific needs, from enhancing business communication skills to fostering mathematical understanding, accounting proficiency, leadership abilities, and entrepreneurial spirit among the participants.
The successful execution of these projects underscores the commitment of our students to social responsibility and their capability to make a meaningful impact on society. Congratulations to all the students involved for their hard work and dedication in bringing these community service activities to fruition.

Free Market Day
Year 1 Semester 2 students from Diploma in Communication and Media Studies, Diploma in Hotel Management Diploma in Event Management organised a volunteerism project which is Free Market Day as a part of their MPU-2202 Civic Consciousness and Volunteerism coursework requirement. The Free-Market Day project was to help people in needs (without involving cash). The main aim of this project is to collect donation items such as groceries, stationery, books/magazines/novels, gadgets, household items, sport equipment, etc. All the donated items donated to TAR UMT staff and students.
