2 September 2023, TAR UMT Perak - An MOU was officially inked between TAR UMT, Gaharu Technologies Sdn. Bhd., and the Technological Association Malaysia (TAM), setting the stage for a promising collaboration. This partnership represents a significant step in students' journey as they venture into a realm that holds the potential to mold the course of their lives and professional careers. Through our joint efforts, we aspire to offer students substantial opportunities to acquire practical experience, nurture pertinent skills, and pave the way for their future achievements in their selected fields.

4 September 2023, TAR UMT Perak - Executive Chef Patrick Chew and Pastry Chef Mariam Harun from PARKROYAL Penang Resort recently graced our university campus with their culinary expertise, and what a delightful event it was! The chocolate-making demonstration they conducted left us all craving for more.

Executive Chef Patrick Chew, with his extensive culinary experience, and Pastry Chef Mariam Harun, known for her pastry wizardry, teamed up to create a memorable and mouthwatering experience for all attendees. During the event, they unveiled the secrets behind crafting exquisite chocolates, from the careful selection of ingredients to the precise techniques that make all the difference. Their passion for their craft was evident, and their guidance made the art of chocolate making seem approachable and exciting. Students were captivated by the process and had the chance to taste the chocolate products.

The event was a resounding success, leaving us all with a newfound appreciation for the world of chocolate. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Executive Chef Patrick Chew and Chef Mariam Harun for sharing their knowledge and culinary talents with us. We look forward to more such delightful culinary experiences in the future!

6 September 2023 - Thank you SMJK Choong Hua, Bidor for the opportunity to connect with your students and actively contribute to their learning journey. We hope the English Language Workshop organised offers them holistic learning that expands their language mastery by introducing them to new and exciting concepts in a second language. 8 - 10 September 2023, Pangkor Island - In partial fulfillment of Sustainable Tourism course, a group of students from Bachelor of Tourism Management (Honours) Event Management went for an educational trip to Pusat Konservasi dan Penerangan Penyu Teluk Ketapang, Pulau Pangkor. They were briefed on turtle conservation, beach cleanup activity, and tree planting activity. In Kampung Penyu, they had a pure excitement of releasing turtles into the sea. They had so much fun with all the activities experienced in Pangkor Island.

10 September 2023, Cameron Highlands - Students from the Bachelor of Communication Studies (Honours), TAR UMT Perak have achieved a remarkable milestone by successfully collaborating with Copthorne Hotel, Cameron Highland for the highly anticipated 18 Celsius Copthorne Fun Run 2023.

The students played a crucial role in the marketing activities for the event, resulting in the successful registration of 80 participants under TAR UMT, Perak Branch. These marketing activities included physical promotions conducted through class-to-class promotions and engagement with the local night market. Additionally, social media played a pivotal role in promoting the event, with active promotion carried out on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. The students also collaborated with influencers to maximize the reach and impact of the event on social media.

13 - 15 September 2023, Cameron Highlands - COOKING, CULTURE, CONNECTION.  Our Bachelor of Hospitality and Catering Management (Honours) Year 2 Semester 3 students teamed up with Regional Environmental Awareness Cameron Highlands (REACH) - a dedicated CSR-focused NGO in Cameron Highlands. Together, we created a day filled with pure joy and unforgettable memories!

Introducing the amazing moments from our latest CCC Event (Cooking, Culture, Connection) at CCC TAR UMT Perak, we embarked on a journey of cultural exchange, laughter, and indulged in mouthwatering fusion food with indigenous children at SJKT Boh 2. It was a heartwarming event that truly brightened our community.

13 September 2023, TAR UMT Perak - Over 400 students thronged Dewan Utama to watch The Endless Dream. The event, organized by the Student Representative Council (SRC) was part of the annual initiative called Orientation Night. Students and staff were treated to various performances by 2022 finalists, 2023 individual and group finalists, the finalist coordinator, the music society, and the judges.

Gavin Han Zi Chou and Lee Seok Shan were crowned Mr. and Ms. TAR UMT 2023. Lee Seok Shan spiced up the event even more as she bagged the Popularity Award and Best Outfit award. The Best Performance Award was won by Kelly Boo. It was certainly an endless dream night to be remembered for the winners and audience.

14 September 2023, TAR UMT Perak - Adventures in the Wonderland was organised by Diploma in Event Management Year 2 Semester 1 in partial fulfilment of their coursework. This event was to raise the importance of mental and physical health awareness among TAR UMT students and the public as well as letting the students who had just completed their assignments and mid-terms to have a little break, allowing them to have fun together and create memorable memories among the TAR UMT students and the public along the way.

Here are some of the amazing moments captured during the event. The event was indeed a success and they certainly obtained a lot of knowledge from it. It is truly a wonderful and unforgettable moment for all the organising committee members and helpers.

18 September 2023, TAR UMT Perak - The successful completion of the 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival party, organized by the 23rd Chinese Language Institute Organising Committee, is attributable to the interest and participation of individuals from every aspect of life. 

This gala event, intended to deepen the public's understanding of the Mid-Autumn Festival tradition, also aimed to encourage students to participate in activities beyond academics; engaging pastimes such as guessing lantern riddles, making DIY hand-painted lanterns, and popping balloons with darts. 

In addition, heartfelt gratitude was expressed to other societies who contributed to this festive evening, namely, Dancing Society which sold fried Tomyam popcorn chicken, the Hospitality and Catering Society which offered fast food snacks, and the Buddhist Society, which made available corn in cups and curry fish balls. A special appreciation was also given to our university’s Music Society for entertaining guests with lovely performances and the Dancing Society for delivering a captivating dance routine providing attendees with a visual treat that greatly enriched the Mid-Autumn evening party. 

The motivation for organizing the Mid-Autumn evening party by the society was to provide ample opportunity for members to improve their event planning skills and quick response to situations. Furthermore, it was perceived that through this event, deeper friendships and connections could be nurtured.

19 - 22 September 2023, Kuala Lumpur - Congratulations Culinary Team!

Culinaire Malaysia 2023, with a boasting of over 90 different categories, 1200 participants, and a panel of over 100 professional judges, the culinary battle is set to provide an experience unlike any other. 

The four contestants and chef trainers all presented excellent works in this competition and successfully won a silver medal and three diploma awards.

Everyone performed very well and won the award through hard work, endless training, sacrifice, effort and determination.

20 September 2023, TAR UMT Perak - Food Fiesta fundraising charity project was held by Year 1 Semester 1 students from Diploma Event Management, Diploma in Tourism Management, Year 1 Semester 3 students from Diploma in Accounting, Diploma in Business Administration, Diploma in Hotel Management, Year 2 Semester 1 students from Diploma in Information Systems, Diploma in Information Technology,  and Year 2 Semester 3 students from Diploma in Communication and Media Studies as a part of their MPU-2312 Civic Consciousness and Volunteerism coursework requirement. One of the main objectives is to create awareness among undergraduates to be a part of a caring society. 

A total of 228 students were involved in the Food Fiesta fundraising charity project.  The beneficiary of the Food Fiesta project is Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM), Penang. The students managed to raise a total of RM3,750.05 cash donation contributed from the fundraising activities which comprised sales of food and drinks, fun games, and busking performance.

20 - 22 September 2023, Redang Island - A 3D2N field trip to Redang Island was indeed a meaningful and fascinating adventure for Year 3 Semester 1 Bachelor of Tourism Management (Honours) Event Management. This second field trip was geared to revolving around the idea of seeking leisure and recreational experiences during the trip. With the shimmering blue sea, sandy beach, various colorful sea creatures, engaging activities, and stunning views, they got to immerse themselves in nature and make memories with their friends that will last a lifetime. It was indeed a delightful experience for the students and we can’t wait to have more and more similar enjoyable field trips in the future.

26 September 2023, TAR UMT Perak - Dr. Shan Narayanan from Hospital Fatimah, Ipoh offered practical advice on self-management and building self-confidence, using his own experiences and story as examples.

29 September 2023, TAR UMT Perak - 44 students and 4 teachers from SMK Main Convent, Ipoh visited us from 8.00am to 12.30pm. The visit started with a campus tour led by Mr. Ganesa, Administration & Sports Officer and followed by business camp by Ms. Marina Binti Alang Othman (DACB Programme Leader) and Ms Chan Kit Yeng (DACB Lecturer). 

6 October 2023, TAR UMT Perak - 44 students and 4 teachers from SMK Bercham, Ipoh visited our campus from 8.00am to 11.30am. The visit started with a campus tour led by Mr. Ganesa, Administration & Sports Officer and followed by team building and leadership camp led by Mr. Hong Kok Pan (student counselor).
