8 December 2023, Kalumpang, Selangor - 23 students from Bachelor of Hospitality & Catering Management (Honours) and Bachelor of Tourism Management (Honours) Event Management went to Beacon Resort in Kalumpang for an educational trip. They were accompanied by Ms. Julie Yap, Pn. Nur Nadirah and Pn. Nurul Farah Sharini. 

28 December 2023,TAR UMT Perak - Embark on a culinary journey with AHDC2524  restaurant business operation at DCU(diploma in culinary art) !  

Our students, under the guidance of dynamic tutors like En Sharizal, Miss Saras Woo, and Ms Hana, transformed a blank canvas into a bustling restaurant operation every Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. From managing kitchen intricacies to serving diverse dishes like English and American breakfast, laksa, and more, our students showcased their creativity and culinary flair. Balancing food costs and multitasking, they conquered challenges with grace.

Amidst this flavorful adventure, students not only mastered local and Western cuisines but also elevated their skills in plating and packaging, creating edible works of art. It's a dual challenge for both students and lecturers, who skillfully navigate through the operational intricacies. As a DCU student, mastering restaurant service is a key aspect, ensuring a seamless experience following standard operating procedures. 

In the world of AHDC2524 course, every detail matters, from the sizzle in the kitchen to the art on the plate. Join us in celebrating the passion, dedication, and innovation of our students as they craft culinary excellence! 

14 December 2023, Kuala Lumpur - Our Bachelor of Tourism Management (Honours) Event Management students had the chance to organize a Corporate Service Responsibility at Badan Warisan Malaysia (BWM). They had a ‘gotong-royong’ at the compound of BWM’s headquarter. Apart from that, they also enjoyed a tour around the BWM and accessed information on selected display items. This CSR programme helps to strengthen the rapport and enhances good image between Badan Warisan Malaysia and TAR UMT, Perak Branch.

14 December 2023,TAR UMT Perak - Faculty of Communication and Creative Industries, TAR UMT Perak Branch organised an industrial talk entitled 'Communication Meets Localisation'. The session uncovered fresh perspectives regarding the translation and localization industry. The session proved to be productive, providing our students with an opportunity to delve into the realm of translation and gain insights into real-world practices. The three speakers, Ms. Emyllia, Ms. Adibah, and Ms. Mei, shared their experiences with our communication students and participated in an interactive Q&A session, making it an overall enriching session.

15 December 2023,TAR UMT Perak - Fostering education and adapting to technological advancements will be the key for success in future. To align with this purpose , Department of Computing and Information Technology (DCIT), Perak Branch organised a Final Year Project (FYP) Showcase Event for the courses BACS3413 Project II. Participants involved in the event were Year 3 students from Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) in Software Systems Development (RSD).

During the event, a presentation of student final year projects was delivered to invited industrial players as well as a chance to get feedback from them for further improvement. This event provided students the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to integrate the knowledge and techniques that they have learned in all the courses they have studied. It was also a platform of opportunity to commercialize high quality student’s project through involvement of industrial players. At the end of the event, 3 project groups were selected as the winners. The champion was awarded an “Industrial Award” in the coming convocation. 

18 December 2023, Bangi, Selangor - 27 students from Bachelor of Gastropreneurship (Honours) and Bachelor of Tourism Management (Honours) Event Management went to Bangi Resort Hotel, Selangor for their field trip. They were accompanied by Pn. Nurul Farah Sharini, Cik Arina Aqilah, En. Mohamad Luqman and En. Muhammad Hanif. They were taken for a tour in the hotel, the farm and the kitchen. The students were treated with a buffet lunch and also got the opportunity to try the harvested fruits from the farm of Bangi Resort Hotel. 

21 December 2023,TAR UMT Perak - 26 students from Bachelor of Tourism Management (Honours) Event Management went to JEN Hotel, Penang for their educational trip. They were accompanied by Mr Sharma. A talk was given by the Human Resource Director and followed by the hotel tour. 

The second-year students from Bachelor of Hospitality and Catering Management (Honours) started to sell the Christmas Butter Cookies and Little Christmas Pine Cones from 7th December until 19th December 2023 and also assisted Copthorne Hotel, Cameron Highlands in taking Christmas goodies orders as well. On 21st December 2023 the students sang Christmas Carols and setting up Christmas Photo Booth to liven up the Christmas mood at The Nook Café. 

28 - 29 December 2023,TAR UMT Perak - Final year students from the Communications and Media Studies, and Event Management Departments presented their Final Year Projects to lecturers and peers, marking the end of their degree journey. Audiences were intellectually engaged with research done on topics such as tendencies in spreading fake news, use of edited selfies in social media, motivation to attend campus events, Mukbang videos consumption, use of graphicons in communication, Twitter consumption, humor aggression in stand-up comedians etc.

28 December 2023,TAR UMT Perak - Our Basketball Society organised a Three-Point Shootout Competition. The competition was organised to select new talented basketball players. There were a total of 24 students registered to join the competition. In the final stage, 9 out of 24 participants were selected because they scored more than 17 points. The champion was Aaron Lin Yi Ren. It's a very interesting competition day. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, a good healthy lifestyle and a good relationship with each other will be more important.
