This interactive session gave students valuable exposure to real-world perspectives, while deepening their understanding of international market strategies and global business thinking!
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Faiz Masnan for travelling all the way from UniMAP, Perlis to TAR UMT Perak Branch, and for generously sharing his knowledge and experience with our students!

On 3 September 2026, we had the opportunity to visit Prince of Songkhla University (PSU), Hat Yai Campus. We received a warm welcome from the university officers and staff. The programme began with a welcoming address by Asst. Prof. Dr Pornpawee Pumkerd, Director of the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Cultural Studies. Her welcoming remarks gave us a better understanding of the university's efforts in preserving and promoting Thai cultural heritage.
During our visit, we had the opportunity to explore the art gallery and learn about the history and traditional production of batik and songket in Thailand. We gained valuable knowledge about Thai traditional textiles, their techniques, and their cultural significance. We also participated in a bead embroidery activity, where we created our own small pieces that could be made into keychains. It was an enjoyable hands-on experience, and we were able to bring our handmade keychains home as souvenirs.
Overall, our visit to PSU Hat Yai Campus was a memorable and enriching experience. We learned more about Thai culture, traditional arts, and craftsmanship while enjoying the warm hospitality of the PSU community. We would like to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the Prince of Songkhla University, Hat Yai Campus, especially the officers and staff, for their warm welcome and kindness. This visit will certainly remain one of the highlights of our trip.
5 September 2026, Penang - Walking Through History: A Heritage Study Tour to Penang
The Department of Social Science and Hospitality, TAR UMT Perak Branch, organised an exciting heritage study tour to Penang!
A total of 20 students from the REV and DTM programmes took part in the study tour, including 11 students from REV Y2S1, 4 students from REV Y1S1, and 5 students from DTM Y2S1.
Accompanied by one lecturer, students stepped beyond the classroom to experience Penang's rich history and culture firsthand!
This study tour bridged classroom theory with real-world learning! Students explored heritage attractions, observed cultural practices, and gained insights into how heritage sites are preserved, managed, and presented to visitors.
Through hands-on, experiential learning, students didn't just read about heritage tourism — they saw it, walked it, and lived it! From history to culture to destination management, everything came together in one real, unforgettable experience.
The tour also sparked greater awareness of heritage conservation, responsible tourism, and sustainable destination management — valuable perspectives for future careers in tourism, events, hospitality, and destination management!
At TAR UMT, learning goes beyond the classroom. We explore. We experience. We connect theory to the real world.
Discover tourism. Experience heritage. Learn beyond the classroom. Build your future with TAR UMT.
