02 March 2026, TAR UMT Perak - Industrial Talk on CPA Australia Student Pathway
An industrial talk on the CPA Australia Student Pathway was successfully organised for the students to provide exposure to professional accounting qualifications and career advancement opportunities.
The session was delivered by Mr. Ivan Tan, Business Development Manager, who shared valuable insights into the structure, requirements, and benefits of pursuing the CPA Australia qualification. He explained the student pathway, membership process, examination structure, practical experience requirements, and global recognition of the CPA designation.
During the session, students were given a clear understanding of how the CPA Australia pathway aligns with their academic journey and future career development in accounting and finance. Mr. Ivan Tan also highlighted the advantages of becoming a CPA member, including professional credibility, international mobility, networking opportunities, and continuous professional development.
The talk provided students with practical guidance on planning their professional pathway early and making informed decisions about their career progression after graduation. The interactive session also allowed students to raise questions regarding exemptions, programme structure, and career prospects.
Overall, the industrial talk was highly beneficial in enhancing students’ awareness of professional certification opportunities and strengthening their motivation to pursue professional qualifications in the accounting field.
03 March 2026, TAR UMT Perak - Industrial Talk : Social Media Management & Marketing
FCCI recently hosted an informative industrial talk on Social Media Management and Marketing, delivered by industry expert Dr. Laveneshwari Periasamy of Kevin K Digital Marketing Agency. The talk, which was attended by both students and staff, offered excellent insights into social media management and influencer marketing, showcasing current industry practices and techniques. The talk also featured interactive engagement activities such as a brief proposal presentation and a debate session, which allowed students to directly apply what they had learned. The event culminated with exciting interactive games and a gift distribution. Overall, the talk left students feeling more informed, confident, and motivated to pursue careers in social media management and digital marketing.
On 5 March 2026, a corporate visit to Grant Thornton Malaysia was successfully organised for accounting students to provide them with valuable exposure to the professional accounting environment. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry practices.
During the visit, students were warmly welcomed by the representatives from Grant Thornton, who shared insights into the firm’s services, working culture, and career opportunities available for accounting graduates. The session also provided students with a deeper understanding of the auditing and advisory profession, as well as the expectations and skills required to succeed in the accounting industry.
Students were given the opportunity to interact with the professionals, ask questions about career pathways, and gain practical knowledge about the profession. The sharing session was both informative and inspiring, helping students better understand the realities of working in a professional accounting firm.
Overall, the corporate visit was a meaningful learning experience that enhanced students’ awareness of the accounting profession and motivated them to prepare themselves for future careers in the industry.
In the spirit of Ramadan, DSSH Perak Branch organized the Bubur Lambuk 2026 CSR initiative on 6 March 2026, preparing and distributing over 500 servings of this traditional dish.
Lecturers, staff, and students worked hand in hand to ensure the success of the event. The bubur lambuk was distributed to various community frontliners and institutions, including Klinik Kesihatan, the Police Headquarters, Civil Defence, Fire and Rescue Department, and Masjid As-Suhada.
This initiative not only fostered teamwork and compassion but also strengthened community bonds, reflecting DSSH’s dedication to giving back to society.
The Raya Cookies Sales 2026, held in collaboration with Copthorne Hotel, Cameron Highlands, brought together education and community impact in a meaningful way. Year 2 students from the Bachelor of Gastropreneurship (Honours) programme took the lead in baking, packaging, and selling festive treats as part of their BJGP2234 Culinary Event Entrepreneurship coursework.
Through this hands-on experience, students developed practical entrepreneurial skills while contributing to a good cause. Proceeds from the sales were partially donated to NASOM Ipoh and the TAR UMT Student Loan Fund.
Customers enjoyed a delightful selection of treats, including COP Co Meow Cookies, Marble Cakes, Premium Double Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Ketupat Butter Cookies. All orders were successfully delivered on 18 March 2026, marking the project’s success.
Our students from the Diploma in Tourism Management and Bachelor of Hospitality and Catering recently embarked on a meaningful one-day CSR & educational trip to Penang, accompanied by two lecturers. It was truly a memorable experience filled with learning, exploration, and community contribution.
The journey began with exploring the rich delicacies and culinary delights of Penang, allowing students to experience the vibrant food culture that makes the island famous.
As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, we visited the Cat Beach Sanctuary, where students participated in cleaning up the beach and surrounding area. Beyond the clean-up activity, students also had the chance to interact and spend time with the adorable cats and kittens at the sanctuary. It was a heartwarming experience that reminded us of the importance of compassion and caring for animals.
To end the day, we visited Entopia by Night, a special and magical experience where students explored the beauty of nature after dark. Surrounded by glowing and luminous elements, the night walk introduced us to fascinating insights about bioluminescence and how nature comes alive at night.
This trip was not only educational but also inspiring, as students gained exposure to tourism attractions, sustainability practices, and the importance of giving back to the community.

On 14 March 2026, a group of 23 enthusiastic students from TAR UMT Perak Campus, accompanied by one academic staff member, embarked on an insightful one-day educational tour to Georgetown, Penang. This dynamic initiative, titled “SWOTVENTURE IN PENANG: Exploring, Analyzing and Strategizing the Future of Tourism and MICE Industry,” was specially designed for students enrolled in BJEV3123 Strategic Management and BJEV1223 MICE Management courses.
The tour brought together students from three cohorts—REVY3S2, REVY2S3, and REVY2S2—creating a collaborative learning environment that bridged academic theory with real-world application. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Georgetown’s renowned heritage and culinary landscape, the program provided students with a unique opportunity to conduct hands-on SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analyses of one of Malaysia’s most iconic tourism destinations.
Throughout the day, students explored the rich cultural heritage sites, diverse street art, and world-famous culinary trail that define Georgetown’s global appeal. By engaging directly with the environment, they were able to critically evaluate tourism offerings, visitor experiences, destination management strategies, and the potential for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) development within a heritage setting.
This experiential learning journey empowered students to sharpen their analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills—key competencies required in the evolving tourism and MICE industries. It also encouraged teamwork, communication, and adaptability as students worked in groups to assess real-world scenarios and propose innovative strategies for sustainable tourism growth.
Beyond academic enrichment, the tour fostered a deeper appreciation for Malaysia’s cultural assets and highlighted the importance of balancing heritage preservation with modern tourism demands. The insights gained from this field study will directly contribute to students’ coursework, equipping them with practical knowledge and industry-relevant perspectives.

On 28 March 2026, an inspiring day of learning, service, and real-world experience!
Our students from the Bachelor of Tourism Management (Event Management) and the Bachelor of Hospitality and Catering Management recently took part in an educational trip integrated with a meaningful CSR initiative, KeeperKu, at Zoo Negara.
This program goes beyond academic learning by giving students the chance to actively contribute to society while engaging in hands-on experiences. Throughout the visit, students were exposed to the important roles and responsibilities of zoo keepers — from animal care and feeding routines to maintaining habitats and supporting conservation efforts.
More importantly, this experience allowed them to develop a deeper appreciation for wildlife, teamwork, and community service. It also bridged the gap between theory and practice, helping students better understand how their studies can be applied in real-life settings, especially in managing events, guest experiences, and service environments.
Moments like these shape not only knowledgeable graduates, but also compassionate individuals who are ready to make a positive impact in their future careers and communities.

We were honoured to welcome Encik Shahrule, IEA for DFT, and Mr. Chen, IEA for RSD, who shared their expertise on Automation in Semiconductor.
Mr. Chen introduced students to the pre-assembly processes, highlighting the systems and technologies used within semiconductor manufacturing environments.
Encik Shahrule provided insights into the backend operations, focusing on machine integration and the role of IT applications in streamlining semiconductor processes.
This session offered students a deeper understanding of real-world industry practices and the latest technological advancements shaping the semiconductor sector.

Beyond the Attractions: A Transformative Learning Journey in Jakarta & Bandung
From 31st March to 3rd April 2026, students from the Department of Social Science and Hospitality, Perak Branch, embarked on an unforgettable educational journey to Jakarta and Bandung, Indonesia. What began as a study trip quickly evolved into a dynamic, immersive experience where classrooms were replaced by vibrant streets, cultural landmarks, and real-world industry encounters. Bringing together 45 students across tourism, hospitality, and culinary programmes, this cross-disciplinary adventure was designed to go beyond textbooks, offering students the opportunity to experience, engage, and explore the heart of Indonesia’s tourism and hospitality landscape. From the moment students arrived in Jakarta and journeyed to Bandung via the Whoosh high-speed train, they were introduced to a seamless blend of modern infrastructure and cultural richness. On the first day, students had the valuable opportunity to visit Politeknik Pariwisata NHI Bandung, where they gained insights into Indonesia’s tourism education system, industry training approaches, and academic environment, fostering meaningful academic exchange and broadening their global perspective. Students also experienced Indonesia’s diverse culinary scene firsthand, from traditional Sundanese dishes to modern food innovations. At the Lembang Floating Market, they discovered a unique form of community-based tourism, where local vendors serve authentic street food from boats, supporting livelihoods while preserving tradition. Visits to Kartika Sari and local eateries further highlighted how food businesses successfully blend heritage with branding and innovation, offering valuable insights for future entrepreneurs and hospitality leaders. At Tangkuban Perahu, students observed how natural attractions are managed responsibly, balancing environmental preservation with visitor experience. The Lodge Maribaya showcased eco-tourism practices, encouraging low-impact travel while supporting local communities. Meanwhile, Cibaduyut Shoes Center offered a closer look at homegrown craftsmanship, where small-scale leather industries thrive through skill, heritage, and entrepreneurship. These visits provided real insights into how tourism supports micro-enterprises and preserves cultural identity. The journey concluded in Jakarta, where students explored iconic landmarks such as Monas, the symbols of national pride. Retail visits to Thamrin City and PIK By The Beach introduced students to large-scale commercial tourism, offering a contrast between traditional and modern consumer experiences. Throughout the trip, students demonstrated growth beyond academic knowledge. They developed stronger communication and teamwork skills, greater adaptability in unfamiliar environments, and enhanced cultural awareness and global perspective. Most importantly, they gained confidence in applying what they have learned in real-world contexts which bridging the gap between theory and practice. This educational journey was not only about visiting destinations, but about understanding people, appreciating cultures, and experiencing the realities of the tourism and hospitality industry. It empowered students to think critically, act responsibly, and envision their future roles as professionals in a globalised world.
