2 March 2026, TAR UMT Perak - Industrial Talk on CPA Australia Student Pathway
An industrial talk on the CPA Australia Student Pathway was held to expose students to professional accounting qualifications and career advancement opportunities. The session was delivered by Mr. Ivan Tan, Business Development Manager, who shared key insights into the programme structure, requirements and benefits of pursuing the CPA qualification.
Students gained a clear understanding of the student pathway, including membership, examinations, practical experience and the global recognition of the CPA designation. The session also highlighted the advantages of becoming a CPA member, such as professional credibility, international mobility and networking opportunities.
An interactive Q&A allowed students to explore topics such as exemptions, programme structure and career prospects. Overall, the talk strengthened students’ awareness and motivation to pursue professional qualifications in accounting and finance.
03 March 2026, TAR UMT Perak - Industrial Talk: Social Media Management & Marketing
FCCI hosted an engaging industrial talk on Social Media Management and Marketing, led by Dr. Laveneshwari Periasamy from Kevin K Digital Marketing Agency. The session brought together students and staff for valuable insights into social media strategies, influencer marketing and current industry practices.
Students actively applied their learning through interactive activities, including a mini proposal presentation and a debate session. The event wrapped up with fun games and gift distribution, adding energy to the experience.
Overall, the talk enhanced students’ understanding, boosted confidence and sparked interest in careers within social media and digital marketing.
On 5 March 2026, a corporate visit to Grant Thornton Malaysia was successfully organised for accounting students, offering valuable exposure to the professional accounting environment and bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry practice.
Students were warmly welcomed by firm representatives, who shared insights into the company’s services, working culture and career opportunities for accounting graduates. The session also provided a clearer understanding of the auditing and advisory profession, including the skills and expectations needed to succeed in the industry.
An interactive sharing session allowed students to engage with professionals, ask questions and gain practical career guidance. Overall, the visit was an inspiring experience that strengthened students’ awareness and motivation to pursue careers in accounting.
6 March 2026, Kampar - Spreading Warmth: Bubur Lambuk 2026
In the spirit of Ramadan, DSSH Perak Branch brought the community together through the Bubur Lambuk 2026 CSR initiative, preparing and distributing over 500 servings of this beloved traditional dish.
Lecturers, staff and students worked hand in hand to ensure its success, delivering bubur lambuk to frontliners and community institutions, including Klinik Kesihatan, Police Headquarters, Civil Defence, Fire and Rescue Department and Masjid As-Suhada.
More than a distribution effort, the initiative strengthened teamwork, compassion and community bonds, reflecting DSSH’s commitment to giving back where it matters most.
13 - 18 March 2026, Cameron Highlands - Raya Cookies Sales 2026: Learning Through Giving
The Raya Cookies Sales 2026, held in collaboration with Copthorne Hotel, Cameron Highlands, brought together entrepreneurship and community impact in a meaningful way. Year 2 students from the Bachelor of Gastropreneurship (Honours) programme led the project as part of their BJGP2234 Culinary Event Entrepreneurship coursework, handling everything from baking and packaging to sales.
Beyond building real-world business skills, the initiative also gave back, with proceeds partially donated to NASOM Ipoh and the TAR UMT Student Loan Fund.
Customers enjoyed a delicious range of festive treats, including COP Co Meow Cookies, Marble Cakes, Premium Double Chocolate Chip Cookies and Ketupat Butter Cookies. All orders were successfully delivered on 18 March 2026, marking a sweet and successful outcome.
14 March 2026, Penang - CSR & Educational Trip to Penang
A meaningful one-day journey of learning, exploration and giving back! Students from the Diploma in Tourism Management and Bachelor of Hospitality and Catering Management embarked on a CSR & educational trip to Penang, accompanied by two lecturers.
The day began with a taste of Penang’s renowned food culture, giving students first-hand exposure to one of Malaysia’s top tourism highlights. As part of the CSR initiative, students visited the Cat Beach Sanctuary, taking part in a beach clean-up while also interacting with the rescued cats, an experience that highlighted compassion and care for animals.
The trip concluded with Entopia by Night, where students explored nature after dark and discovered the wonders of bioluminescence in a magical setting.
Overall, the trip blended education with real-world exposure, deepening students’ understanding of tourism, sustainability and community service in a fun and memorable way.
14 March 2026, Penang - SWOTVENTURE IN PENANG: Exploring, Analysing and Strategising the Future of Tourism and MICE Industry
23 students accompanied by an academic staff member, took part in a one-day educational tour to Georgetown, Penang. Titled “SWOTVENTURE IN PENANG: Exploring, Analysing and Strategising the Future of Tourism and MICE Industry,” the programme was designed for students from BJEV3123 Strategic Management and BJEV1223 MICE Management.
Bringing together students from REVY cohorts, the trip connected classroom theory with real-world application. Set in Georgetown’s vibrant heritage and culinary landscape, students conducted hands-on SWOT analyses of a major tourism destination.
The experience exposed students to heritage sites, street art and local culture while evaluating destination management, visitor experience and MICE potential. It strengthened their analytical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving skills through real-world observation and group discussion.
Overall, SWOTVENTURE reinforced TAR UMT Perak Campus’ commitment to experiential, industry-driven learning that prepares students for the tourism and MICE industry.
On 28 March 2026, An inspiring day of learning, service, and real-world experience! Students from the Bachelor of Tourism Management (Event Management) and Bachelor of Hospitality and Catering Management took part in an educational trip integrated with a meaningful CSR initiative, KeeperKu, at Zoo Negara.
The programme combined hands-on learning with community service, exposing students to the roles of zoo keepers, from animal care and feeding to habitat maintenance and conservation efforts.
Beyond technical skills, the experience fostered a deeper appreciation for wildlife, teamwork and social responsibility. It also bridged the gap between theory and practice, showing how classroom knowledge applies to real-world service and event environments.
Moments like these shape not just capable graduates but compassionate individuals ready to make a positive impact.
31 March 2026, TAR UMT Perak - Industry Insights: Automation in Semiconductor
DCIT students at TAR UMT Perak Branch gained valuable exposure through an industrial talk featuring industry experts in semiconductor automation.
We were honoured to host Encik Shahrule (IEA for DFT) and Mr. Chen (IEA for RSD), who shared insights into automation practices within the semiconductor industry.
Mr. Chen introduced students to pre-assembly processes, highlighting key systems and technologies used in semiconductor manufacturing. Encik Shahrule then provided insights into backend operations, focusing on machine integration and the role of IT applications in streamlining production processes.
The session deepened students’ understanding of real-world industry practices and the technologies driving the semiconductor sector forward, bridging classroom learning with industry innovation.
31 March - 3 April 2026 - Beyond the Attractions: A Transformative Learning Journey in Jakarta & Bandung
45 students from the Department of Social Science and Hospitality embarked on an immersive educational journey to Jakarta and Bandung, Indonesia. What began as a study trip evolved into a real-world learning experience across vibrant streets, cultural landmarks and industry settings.
The journey combined tourism, hospitality and culinary perspectives, starting with a visit to Politeknik Pariwisata NHI Bandung for academic exchange and insights into Indonesia’s tourism education system. Students then explored Bandung’s rich culinary landscape, from traditional Sundanese cuisine to modern food innovation.
At Lembang Floating Market, Kartika Sari and local eateries, students observed how food, heritage and entrepreneurship intersect. Visits to Tangkuban Perahu and The Lodge Maribaya highlighted sustainable tourism practices, while Cibaduyut Shoes Center showcased local craftsmanship and micro-enterprise resilience.
In Jakarta, students explored national icons like Monas and experienced modern tourism at Thamrin City and PIK By The Beach, contrasting heritage with commercial tourism development.
Throughout the trip, students strengthened communication, teamwork, adaptability, and cultural awareness, bridging theory with real-world practice. More than a study tour, it was a transformative journey of understanding people, culture and the realities of the global tourism and hospitality industry.
