July 2026
On 4 July 2026, students from the Bachelor of Tourism Management (Honours) Event Management programme embarked on an enriching educational visit to Pesta Buku ASEAN Pulau Pinang 2026, where learning came to life beyond the classroom!
Throughout the visit, students gained valuable first-hand exposure to the planning and execution of a large-scale public event. They explored the convention venue, observed exhibition booth designs, event layouts, visitor flow, stage setups, branding and promotional activities, as well as the operational aspects that contribute to a successful event experience.
Students also engaged with exhibitors, participated in various activities, and learned how event organisers, vendors, and stakeholders work together to create an engaging and memorable event. This immersive experience strengthened their understanding of event planning, operations, marketing, customer experience, and teamwork while allowing them to connect classroom knowledge with real industry practices.
A day filled with discovery, inspiration, and hands-on learning—empowering our future event professionals with the knowledge, confidence, and experience to thrive in the dynamic tourism and events industry!
The Future Ready Workshop Series, held on 6 and 7 July 2026, successfully reached 103 students through five workshop sessions aimed at preparing them for the transition from university to the professional world.
The workshops were conducted by Mr Sonny Gan, Exco Committee of the Tarcian Alumni Association (TAA), Former General Manager and Corporate Trainer, as well as a Financial Accounting graduate of KTAR.
The series covered key topics including career planning, life skills, financial management, and entrepreneurship, equipping students with practical knowledge and essential competencies for future career success.
TAR UMT extends its sincere appreciation to Mr Sonny Gan for his valuable contributions and continued support in empowering students to become future-ready graduates.
