On 1 July 2026 provided an enriching learning experience for students from the RBU, DBU, and DEM programmes. The visit began with insightful career talks delivered by three department heads, who shared their professional experiences, industry expectations, career pathways, and valuable advice for future graduates. Students also had the opportunity to interact with the speakers and gain a better understanding of the hospitality and tourism industry. The programme concluded with a visit to the theme park, where students observed customer experience management while enjoying the attractions. Overall, the visit successfully combined academic learning with practical industry exposure.
On 4 July 2026, students from the Bachelor of Tourism Management (Honours) Event Management programme embarked on an enriching educational visit to Pesta Buku ASEAN Pulau Pinang 2026, where learning came to life beyond the classroom!
Throughout the visit, students gained valuable first-hand exposure to the planning and execution of a large-scale public event. They explored the convention venue, observed exhibition booth designs, event layouts, visitor flow, stage setups, branding and promotional activities, as well as the operational aspects that contribute to a successful event experience.
Students also engaged with exhibitors, participated in various activities, and learned how event organisers, vendors, and stakeholders work together to create an engaging and memorable event. This immersive experience strengthened their understanding of event planning, operations, marketing, customer experience, and teamwork while allowing them to connect classroom knowledge with real industry practices.
A day filled with discovery, inspiration, and hands-on learning—empowering our future event professionals with the knowledge, confidence, and experience to thrive in the dynamic tourism and events industry!
18 April 2026, TAR UMT Perak - Empowering Students with AI Insights!
Our students had the opportunity to attend an inspiring industrial talk by Ts. Nadzirah Binti Ahmadi, an IT professional from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).
During the session, Ts. Nadzirah shared valuable industry insights and her professional experiences, introducing students to the latest and most popular AI tools that are transforming the way we learn, work, and live. From enhancing productivity to supporting everyday tasks, the session highlighted how artificial intelligence is shaping the future and the importance of embracing these technologies responsibly.
A big thank you to Ts. Nadzirah for sharing her expertise and inspiring our students to stay ahead in the ever-evolving digital landscape!
The Future Ready Workshop Series, held on 6 and 7 July 2026, successfully reached 103 students through five workshop sessions aimed at preparing them for the transition from university to the professional world.
The workshops were conducted by Mr Sonny Gan, Exco Committee of the Tarcian Alumni Association (TAA), Former General Manager and Corporate Trainer, as well as a Financial Accounting graduate of KTAR.
The series covered key topics including career planning, life skills, financial management, and entrepreneurship, equipping students with practical knowledge and essential competencies for future career success.
TAR UMT extends its sincere appreciation to Mr Sonny Gan for his valuable contributions and continued support in empowering students to become future-ready graduates.
8 July 2026, TAR UMT Perak - English Camp and Campus Visit: San Min Suwa, Teluk Intan at TAR UMT
125 students. 9 stations. 1 unforgettable day!
Word Play: English in Action 2026 brought the vibrant energy of SM San Min (SUWA), Teluk Intan to TAR UMT Perak, for a day filled with language, laughter, and learning beyond the classroom!
Through exciting station challenges and the thrilling Ultimate GuessMoji finale, students put their English and communication skills into real action! They listened attentively, spoke with confidence, thought creatively, and worked together as one strong team.
But this programme was more than just games — it gave students a genuine taste of campus life, meaningful interactions with lecturers and student facilitators, and memories that will last well beyond the day itself!

14 July 2026, TAR UMT Perak - Industry Sharing Session with Ms. Micky Ng (Above Creative Event Sdn. Bhd.)
Our DSSH students had the wonderful opportunity to learn from Ms. Micky Ng, Chief Imagination Officer of Above Creative Event Sdn. Bhd. (A.C.E.), during an inspiring industry sharing session.
Drawing from her extensive experience in the events and creative industry, Ms. Micky shared valuable insights into event planning, creativity, innovation, client expectations, and the realities of working in a fast-paced professional environment. She also encouraged students to embrace challenges, think creatively, and continuously develop the skills needed to thrive in their future careers.
The interactive session, coupled with constructive feedback, gave students a deeper understanding of industry expectations while bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice. It was a meaningful and engaging experience that inspired our students to pursue their career aspirations with greater confidence.

On 23 July 2026, the Business and Accounting Society conducted the Wealth Flow Game, an engaging experiential activity designed to enhance students’ understanding of financial and life planning. Through the game, participants experienced realistic financial situations involving income, expenses, savings, investments, unexpected events, and lifestyle choices. The activity encouraged students to make informed financial decisions, manage limited resources, evaluate risks, and understand the importance of long-term financial planning. It also highlighted the relationship between financial decisions and life goals, helping students recognise how effective money management can contribute to financial stability, personal well-being, and a more secure future.
