1 August 2026, Ipoh - MATTA Fair 2026: Learning Beyond the Classroom

The tourism industry came alive for 18 DTM and REV students as they explored MATTA Fair 2026, connecting with industry professionals and discovering new destinations, trends

Students engaged directly with tourism boards, travel agencies, airlines, hotels and destination marketing organisations, gaining first-hand insights into destination marketing, tourism promotion, travel trends and career opportunities.

A special highlight was meeting their seniors currently undergoing Industrial Training with participating travel agencies. Inspired by their seniors’ experiences, students took the initiative to connect with industry representatives and explore potential future training opportunities.

The visit also exposed students to sustainable tourism practices, including responsible travel, cultural heritage preservation, community support and eco-conscious tourism development.

More than a travel fair, the experience helped students build industry awareness, confidence and professional connections, bringing them one step closer to becoming future-ready tourism professionals.

3 August 2026, TAR UMT Perak - Explore Careers Beyond Borders: Working in Macau

Think global. Build your career beyond borders! Students gained a closer look at international hospitality careers during an insightful industry talk, “Working in Macau,” featuring Ms. Jacinta Ho, Founder & Managing Director, and Mr. Amos Tan, Director of Hospitality Talent Management, from JC Human Resources Consulting, Macau.

The session explored hospitality career opportunities, hotel employment prospects, international workplace expectations and practical tips for building a global career. Through industry sharing, real-life experiences and informative videos, students discovered the opportunities awaiting them in Macau’s vibrant hospitality sector.

More than just a career talk, the session broadened students’ horizons, connected them with industry professionals and inspired them to think beyond Malaysia when planning their future careers. 

TAR UMT extends its appreciation to JC Human Resources Consulting, Macau, for sharing their expertise and inspiring our students to pursue global career opportunities.

On 18 August 2026, A day of discovery, learning and new possibilities! SMK Horley Methodist students explored TAR UMT Perak Branch, getting a taste of campus life while taking part in engaging Business and Leadership Workshops.

With plenty of energy, creativity and enthusiasm, students embraced every activity and gained valuable insights into personal development and future educational pathways.

We hope TAR UMT was a memorable stop on their journey towards a bright future!

19 - 20 August 2026, Perak - Strengthening Partnerships for a Brighter Future

TAR UMT paid courtesy visits to SMJK San Min, SMJK Ayer Tawar and SMJK Nan Hwa, reaffirming its commitment to building meaningful connections with valued secondary school partners.

Led by Assoc. Prof. Say Sok Kwan, Vice President of TAR UMT, together with representatives from the Department of Corporate Communication and Marketing and TAR UMT Perak Branch, the delegation engaged with school principals and management teams to exchange ideas and explore future collaborations.

The visits highlighted opportunities to support and empower both students and teachers, strengthening the bridge between schools and higher education.

A heartfelt thank you to the school management teams for their warm hospitality and meaningful engagement. Together, we look forward to nurturing, inspiring and developing future talents.

22 August 2026, Ipoh - Colours of Merdeka 2026: University Social Responsibility (USR) Event

31 students from REVY2S3 and REVY3S1 came together for a meaningful University Social Responsibility (USR) event at Pertubuhan Badan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Darussalam, Ipoh.

The day was filled with patriotic activities, laughter, smiles and meaningful interactions between students and the children. Beyond the celebrations, students had the opportunity to apply their event management knowledge while strengthening their leadership, communication, teamwork and community engagement skills.

More than just a Merdeka celebration, it was a day to share, care and connect, creating memories that truly captured the spirit of togetherness. 

A heartfelt thank you to Pertubuhan Badan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Darussalam for welcoming our students and making Colours of Merdeka 2026 a meaningful experience for everyone.

24 August 2026, TAR UMT Perak - Orientation Night 2026

A Night of Talent, Confidence & Energy

Filled with talent, confidence, energy and excitement, Orientation Night 2026 brought the TAR UMT community together for a celebration to remember.

The spotlight belonged to our 9 talented finalists, each bringing their own unique charm, personality and confidence to the stage. Their enthusiasm and determination made the competition truly memorable.

The excitement continued with amazing performances by our former Mr TARC and the TAR UMT Dancing Society, keeping the energy high throughout the evening.

A special appreciation to our esteemed judges; Mr Lamzit, Ms Nikki and Ms Emily for sharing their time, expertise and valuable insights.

And to our amazing committee and SRC, who gave their time, energy and sleep… we see you, we appreciate you, we love you.

28 - 29 August 2026, Genting Highlands - Educational Trip to Genting Highlands

Learning beyond the classroom! Students from the Bachelor of Tourism Management (Honours) Event Management programme embarked on an exciting educational trip to Genting Highlands, gaining first-hand exposure to the operations of an integrated resort destination.

The trip complemented their coursework in Sustainable Tourism, Travel and Tour Operations and MICE Management, allowing students to explore tourism products, visitor facilities, resort operations and sustainability practices through experiential learning.

The programme began with an insightful educational talk and facility tour at Resorts World, offering students a behind-the-scenes look at integrated resort operations. The learning continued at Genting Skytropolis and Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park, where students observed attractions, visitor experiences and tourism product development in action.

More than just a trip, the experience connected classroom theory with real-world industry practices, strengthening students’ practical knowledge and understanding of the tourism and hospitality industry.

28 August - 6 September 2026, Kuala Lumpur- SUKIPT 2026: Creating a Legacy of Champions

Three talented athletes from TAR UMT Perak Branch proudly represented TAR UMT at the 7th Malaysian Higher Education Institutions Sports Games (SUKIPT) 2026, hosted by Universiti Malaya.

Congratulations to Law Li Hui Eddie (Swimming), Wong Ke Xin and Chan Jackonn (Mixed Doubles Badminton) for stepping onto the SUKIPT stage, competing alongside athletes from higher education institutions across Malaysia and giving their very best. Your dedication, determination and sportsmanship are a true source of pride for the Perak Branch! 

Their participation contributed to TAR UMT’s outstanding overall achievement of 14 Gold, 10 Silver and 19 Bronze medals, a total of 43 medals.

A big congratulations to our three athletes, as well as the coaches, officials and everyone who supported them along the way.
