An Educational/Field Trip to Penang
A 3D2N educational field trip to Penang was organized for 138 Year 1 students from the DHT, DEV, DTM, and DCU programmes. The students were accompanied by six dedicated academic staff members.
Upon arrival at the Eastern and Oriental (E&O) Hotel, students were welcomed by General Manager Ms. Alison Fraser and enjoyed talks from the management team, followed by a complimentary tea break and a hotel tour. Later, they checked into the Bayview Georgetown Hotel.
On September 5, students attended a talk by Mr. Sargu, the Human Resources Manager of Bayview Georgetown Hotel, and enjoyed lunch at the hotel restaurant. The trip concluded with a gala dinner organized by the Diploma of Event Management students in the hotel ballroom, creating lasting memories for all involved.
This trip not only enriched the students' learning experiences but also allowed them to engage with industry professionals and foster connections within the hospitality sector.

The Faculty of Accountancy, Finance, and Business at TAR UMT Perak organized an enriching field trip to the Great Eastern headquarters at Menara Great Eastern, Jalan Ampang. Students from the RBU, RAF, DEM, and DBU programs had a firsthand look at the insurance industry through office tours, presentations by HR and departmental managers, and engaging interactive activities. This experience opened doors to career opportunities and offered valuable industry insights.

Youthful Life: Wings of Dream

The event title, Youthful Life: Wings of Dream, symbolizes the boundless potential and aspirations of today’s youth, giving them wings to chase their dreams. This grand event marked the culmination of two months of intense planning—a journey so challenging that the organizing team humorously described it as feeling like they were "vomiting blood" from the stress! The final two days were a whirlwind of non-stop preparation, particularly with the décor, as the team tackled last-minute crises with impressive calmness and teamwork.
Organized by Diploma in Event Management Year 2 students from Semesters 1 and 3, the event benefited greatly from the dedicated support of their advisors: Miss Hana, Mr. Yap, and Ms. Saras. Leading up to the event, students spearheaded multiple fundraising efforts, selling food and merchandise to ensure everything was in place for this milestone celebration.

The TARCian Story Soft Launch
9 September 2024, TAR UMT Perak - The Perak Branch proudly hosted the soft launch of The TARCian Story, a film that chronicles the inspiring journey of Tunku Abdul Rahman College’s (TARC) foundation in the 1960s. The event commenced with a warm welcome from the emcee, followed by an official launch speech delivered by Dr. Joanne Yim, the Perak Branch Head.
Staff and students were treated to a preview of the film’s trailer, which highlighted the resilience of TARC’s early students and the friendships formed across diverse cultures. The event also featured the announcement of private screenings scheduled for 26th November 2024 (Tuesday), with two time slots: 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM at MS Cinema, Kampar. Tickets are available for RM5 through the Intranet, and students can earn soft skills points by attending!
The soft launch was a resounding success, generating excitement for the full release of The TARCian Story.

Taste of Traditions Gala
"Taste of Traditions Gala" Raises RM1,000 for the Beautiful Gate Educational Centre for the Disabled
The Department of Social Science and Hospitality (Communication) recently held a highly successful cultural fundraising event, "Taste of Traditions Gala". The event, organized by students from the Bachelor of Communication Studies (Honours) and Diploma in Public Relations programmes, brought together community members for an unforgettable evening celebrating culture, food, and charity.
The event’s primary objective was to raise funds for the Beautiful Gate Educational Centre for the Disabled in Kampar, and the students achieved their goal, raising a total of RM1,000 from the event’s proceeds. This impressive contribution reflects the student organizers' commitment to social causes and their ability to mobilize resources for the betterment of the community.
Through the "Taste of Traditions Gala," TAR UMT Perak Branch has not only reinforced its dedication to fostering a strong sense of community but also provided its students with a meaningful opportunity to gain practical experience in organizing impactful and socially responsible events. The gala stands as a testament to the university’s commitment to supporting charitable initiatives while celebrating Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.

Shells of Hopes: Uniting for Turtle Conservation
Year 1 Semester 3 students from Diploma E-Commerce and Marketing, Diploma in Business Administration, Year 1 Semester 3 students from Diploma in Accounting, and Year 2 Semester 3 students from Diploma in Communication and Media Studies and Diploma in Event Management organised a charity project which is Shells of Hope: Uniting for Turtle Conservation as a part of their MPU-2312/2202 Civic Consciousness and Volunteerism coursework requirement.
The Shells of Hope: Uniting for Turtle Conservation project was held on 9 September 2024 and the theme is Treats Without Borders Food Carnival. The charity activities comprised sales of food and drinks. The main aim of the charity project is to raise an estimated RM 1,000.00 and all the donated funds will be donated to Segari Turtle Sanctuary.
The objectives of the charity projects are to create awareness among undergraduates to be a part of a caring society, to promote teamwork and tolerance among team members to make these projects successful, to develop students’ character by enhancing their civic consciousness through charity or voluntary work/projects, and to produce students who are altruistic and concerned with the well-being of others.

Wellness Campaign
10 September 2024, TAR UMT Perak - The Wellness Campaign attracted 535 staff and students, who actively participated in a range of engaging wellness activities. The campaign offered something for everyone, including mandala colouring, DIY bracelet making, stress ball crafting, gratitude tree creation, stress assessments, healthy snack sampling, positive bookmark making, pebble painting, sticky note expressions, and a fun wellness photo booth.
Participants also benefited from free health screenings provided by UTAR Hospital, along with an insightful talk titled "Stress: Good or Bad?". Additionally, Pet Away Stress offered a unique stress-relief experience featuring six adorable animals, much to the delight of the attendees.
The campaign fostered a positive atmosphere of relaxation and mindfulness. We hope everyone enjoyed the wellness vibe and found the activities helpful in improving their overall well-being.

The students of the Bachelor of Hospitality and Catering Management brought warmth and joy to the residents of I Care Centre through their CSR event, Autumn Harmony. Designed to combat loneliness and brighten the day, the event featured heart-to-heart chats, fun games, and vibrant performances that filled the room with laughter and cheer. The students created a memorable experience, turning moments of solitude into shared happiness. Seeing the residents light up with smiles and engage warmly with the team was truly heartening, leaving everyone inspired and proud of the difference they made.

The iSpark International Pitching Competition (IIPC) was successfully organized by TAR UMT CBiEV, showcasing the remarkable talent of our Perak campus. A total of 9 teams participated, with 8 teams from DACB and 1 from DCIT.
A special congratulations to the team "Boys Gang," comprised 4 RAF students, for their impressive achievement of reaching the top 15 finalists!

Educational Tour @ Pavilion Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
20 September 2024, Kuala Lumpur - An educational tour was organized for 28 students from REV Y2S1, Y2S3, Y3S1, and DTM Y2S1 at Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur, providing an enriching real-world learning experience.
The students were given an extensive tour of the property, with detailed briefings on the hotel’s history, unique features, operations, facilities, and target market. This immersive experience provided invaluable opportunities to develop hands-on skills, social interaction, and critical thinking within a practical setting.
In the end, the tour perfectly complemented their classroom learning, offering diverse and memorable experiences that will stay with them.
